Legacy & Youth Development Initiatives

Legacy & Youth Development Initiatives are where Anna Bell Frazier's belief in young people takes shape in the present day. These programs weave mentorship, leadership training, and creative skill-building into a steady structure of support, helping youth move from uncertainty toward confidence, belonging, and purpose.

Our Mentorship for Confidence and Purpose pairs young people with caring adults who listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and help them recognize their own strengths. Sessions often circle around the arts - drawing, music, writing, photography - but the focus is the whole person. Together, mentors and mentees set goals, reflect on challenges, and celebrate progress. For many participants, this is the first time an adult outside their family has said, "I see your gifts, and they matter." That recognition can be transformative.

Alongside mentorship, our Youth Leadership Development series offers structured opportunities to practice essential skills: communication, teamwork, project planning, and ethical decision-making. Through group activities, creative projects, and community-based assignments, participants learn how to organize ideas, lead peers, and speak with clarity in front of others. We ground lessons in real situations they encounter at school, in the arts, or in neighborhood life, so leadership feels relevant and attainable.

Throughout these initiatives, creativity is not an afterthought. We treat artistic practice as a training ground for leadership - every rehearsal, sketch, or draft becomes a chance to build discipline, resilience, and collaboration. Participants are reminded that their voices carry the legacies of families, communities, and ancestors, and that stepping into leadership is one way of honoring that inheritance.

Guided by the Anna Bell Frazier Memorial Foundation, these programs are offered at no cost to youth and their families. We partner with schools, ministries, and community groups to identify participants and co-create welcoming spaces.

In every cohort, we witness the same quiet shift: young people who once spoke softly at the edge of the room begin to stand tall, share ideas, and see their futures as part of a much larger, hopeful story.
